Commitment to sport
SEK Educational Group, made up by SEK International Schools (Spain, France, Ireland and Qatar) Camilo José Cela University (Madrid), has been closely tied to the world of sports since its inception, sport is a core aspect of its educational activities and the Group has focused its efforts on fostering the role of sports in our society.
SEK was the first private educational institution to offer high performance schools and the only one to obtain on two occasions, in 1988 and 2010, the prestigious National Award for Sport. It has also been awarded the Spanish Olympic Committee Award in 2010 for its support for sport and Olympism.
Testament to this commitment to sport are the over 2 million euros in scholarships and grants that SEK Educational Group allocates to different programmes related to physical activity and sports.
The UCJC Sports Club was founded as part of our ongoing support and promotion of sport, a centre with over 40,000 m2 of sports facilities. Built to house the practice of different sports disciplines, it also houses the Camilo José Cela University and SEK El Castillo International School tennis and swimming High Performance and Competition Training Centres, where academic life is combined with high performance sports and whose swimmers and tennis players compete in European, World and Olympic swim meets and tennis championships.
